SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Secondary SEN School

Vision for Education are recruiting for a flexible and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEN school in Coventry from September.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across a range of classes and age groups, supporting students with diverse learning needs from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5.
About the School Setting
The school caters for secondary-aged students with a variety of additional needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), including non-verbal students
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Complex communication needs
- Sensory and physical disabilities
- Medical needs
The school provides a highly supportive and structured environment where staff work collaboratively to help students achieve their individual goals and maximise independence.
The Role
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:
- Support students across KS3, KS4 and KS5
- Work on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist students with communication, learning and engagement
- Support non-verbal students using a variety of communication methods
- Provide personal care where required
- Assist with feeding, mobility and physical support for some students
- Support students during practical activities, therapies and life-skills sessions
- Build positive relationships that promote confidence and independence
- Adapt to different classes and needs across the school
This is a varied role requiring flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to work with students who have a wide range of needs.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting individuals with SEN, disabilities or additional needs
- A flexible approach and willingness to work across different classrooms
- Confidence supporting students with ASC, SLD and PMLD
- Understanding of non-verbal communication strategies
- A positive and patient attitude
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to provide personal care when required
Previous SEN experience is beneficial but not essential for candidates with transferable care or support experience.
