A friendly and inclusive primary school in the NP20 area of Newport is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September 2026. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils across Key Stage 2, including children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about education, supporting children’s development, and helping learners build confidence, independence, and a love for learning within a positive and nurturing classroom environment.
The Role
As part of the KS2 team, you will provide both 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils to engage with classroom learning, develop key skills, and achieve their individual targets through encouragement and positive reinforcement strategies.
You may support pupils with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- ADHD and behavioural needs
- Literacy and numeracy intervention support
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils during classroom activities and targeted interventions
- Assist with implementing IDPs/EHCPs
- Encourage independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
- Use engaging learning strategies and differentiated resources
- Support literacy, numeracy, and social development
- Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCO to adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs

We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, proactive, and reliable
- Experienced in education, childcare, or ALN settings (personal experience is also valued)
- Confident supporting children with a range of additional needs
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Passionate about making a positive difference in children’s lives
This role would particularly suit:
- Learning Support Assistants
- KS2 Teaching Assistants
- ALN Teaching Assistants
- Youth Workers or Sports Coaches looking to transition into education
Essential Requirements
- EWC Registration
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two recent professional references from within the last 24 months
