We’re currently looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school team in the Vale of Glamorgan. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children thrive, build confidence and reach their potential.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside the class teacher and wider school team to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Every day will be varied, with opportunities to provide one-to-one support, small-group interventions and general classroom assistance. You’ll help pupils develop their academic skills while also supporting their confidence, independence, social development and wellbeing.
The successful candidate will be someone who brings patience, positivity and enthusiasm to the classroom and genuinely enjoys helping children succeed.
Key Responsibilities-
Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate learning activities.

Provide effective one-to-one and small-group support where required.

Help pupils develop their reading, writing, phonics and numeracy skills.

Support learning across a range of subjects and classroom activities.

Encourage pupils to participate positively and confidently in their learning.

Promote independence, resilience and positive behaviour.

Provide encouragement, reassurance and positive reinforcement.

Help maintain effective classroom routines and organisation.
-
Prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials.
-
Monitor pupils' progress and share relevant feedback with the class teacher.

Build positive, professional relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Support pupils who require additional assistance with their learning or development.

Contribute to wider school activities when required.

Help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.

Follow school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Experienced in working with children, ideally within a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting.

Caring, patient, enthusiastic and committed to supporting children's development.

Confident working with primary-aged children.

Comfortable providing both individual and small-group support.

Calm, positive and nurturing in your approach.

A strong communicator who can work effectively with pupils and staff.

Confident encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.

Able to adapt your approach to meet individual pupils' needs.

Organised, reliable and able to use your own initiative.

A team player who is also comfortable working independently.

Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
To be considered for this role, you will need:

Previous experience working with children is desirable.

Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration as a Teaching Assistant, or willingness to apply where required.

An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

A strong commitment to safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
