Are you a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs?
A thriving specialist school in South Manchester, supporting pupils with additional needs to reach their full potential, are searching for engaging, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistants to add to their cohesive team.
You would work alongside teachers and senior staff, providing targeted classroom, 1:1 and small-group support, playing a vital role in supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development while helping create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH
- Support pupils to access learning and overcome barriers
- Deliver planned learning, wellbeing and SEMH interventions
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support EHCP targets, behaviour plans and individual learning plans
- Promote positive behaviour and use agreed de-escalation strategies
- Support emotional regulation, confidence, resilience and independence
- Assist teachers with learning activities and classroom resources
- Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, lunchtimes and educational visits
- Monitor and record progress, behaviour and safeguarding concerns
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people
- Has experience supporting SEN, SEMH or additional needs
- Holds a relevant Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience
- Is patient, resilient, empathetic and calm under pressure
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Can build positive professional relationships with pupils
- Understands safeguarding, inclusion and confidentiality
- Experience with EHCPs, interventions or behaviour support is desirable
- Behaviour management/de-escalation training is desirable
