Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference every day?
An Alternative Provision in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, is looking to appoint a dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from 1st September 2026. Working with pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education, you'll play a vital role in helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve both academically and emotionally.
With small class sizes of typically 2-8 pupils, you'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships, provide individualised support, and help create a positive learning environment where every child can thrive.
This long-term opportunity has become available due to staffing changes and would suit someone who is calm, resilient, nurturing and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar education role within UK schools
- A minimum of 1 year's experience supporting children in a classroom environment
- Experience supporting KS2 pupils, ideally within SEN, SEMH or Alternative Provision settings (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- A patient, consistent and resilient approach when supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
- The legal right to work in the UK
- Availability to start full-time from 1st September 2026
