Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Location: Salford
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP / As soon as possible
Salary: £90-£110 per day, dependent on experience

Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Salford on a full-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to develop their career within Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.



The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Supporting children with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Helping pupils to engage positively with classroom learning and school life.
  • Implementing individual support strategies and contributing to pupils' development.
  • Supporting children with communication, interaction, sensory and behavioural needs.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.


About You

The school is looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
  • Patient, empathetic and nurturing.
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Adaptable, resilient and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life.
  • Experienced working with SEN pupils or keen to develop their experience within this area.
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills.

Previous experience within a primary school or SEN setting is highly desirable, although enthusiasm, commitment and the right attitude are equally important.
