Teaching Assistants - Immediate Start B&D

Rising Hope Education Ltd

Teaching Assistants - Long-Term Opportunities | Barking & Dagenham

£95–£105 per day PAYE | Full-time | Immediate September Start | Potential Full Academic Year

Rising Hope Education has received two urgent Teaching Assistant vacancies with one of our primary school clients in Barking & Dagenham, following some last-minute staffing changes on 29 August.

The school's immediate requirement is initially expected to be 4–6 weeks, while they work through their longer-term staffing arrangements. However, for the right candidates, there is absolutely the opportunity for these positions to continue on a full-time basis for the remainder of the academic year.

We're therefore treating these as long-term opportunities and are particularly interested in candidates who would be happy to become part of the school team and commit for the academic year if offered the opportunity.

Role 1 - General Teaching Assistant / RWI Phonics

We're looking for a confident General Teaching Assistant with good primary-school experience and a working knowledge of Read Write Inc. (RWI) Phonics.

You'll support learning across the classroom and work with individual pupils and small groups, including targeted phonics support where required.

Previous experience delivering or supporting RWI Phonics would be particularly valuable.

Role 2 - Pastoral & Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

We're also recruiting somebody for a more pastoral and behaviour-focused position.

You'll support children who are struggling within the classroom, either providing support in class or working with a child away from the classroom to help them regulate, reflect on what has happened and successfully return to learning.

One younger pupil currently requires a significant proportion of this support, although incidents are generally low-level rather than significantly challenging.

You'll need to be calm, confident and emotionally intelligent, with the ability to build strong relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries. You'll also need good basic computer skills to log incidents and be confident communicating with parents both face-to-face and over the telephone.

Immediate availability

These vacancies have arisen at extremely short notice, so for an immediate start you will need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS already registered on the Update Service.

Ideally, we'd like suitable candidates to be available for a Microsoft Teams interview on Monday 31 August and potentially start Tuesday 1 September.

We appreciate that's a very quick turnaround. If Tuesday isn't possible but you can start shortly afterwards, please still apply.

Longer-term opportunities with Rising Hope

Rising Hope Education specialises in SEND and inclusion recruitment across East London.

In addition to these two priority vacancies, we're anticipating approximately 12 further requirements within the first week of the new academic year across Newham, Redbridge, Havering, Barking & Dagenham and Tower Hamlets.

So even if these particular positions aren't quite right for you, we'd still like to hear from experienced Teaching Assistants looking for long-term opportunities for the 2026/27 academic year.

I'll personally be reviewing applications from approximately 1:00pm on Sunday 30 August and contacting suitable candidates as quickly as possible.
