£16.25–£16.85 per hour
£32,955–£34,171 basic salary + sleep-in payments
£62.64 per sleep-in, typically 4–8 per month
Potential total earnings approximately £35,955–£40,171 per annum
Full-time, permanent | Long days & sleep-ins

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to join a dedicated team supporting children and young people in a residential children's home.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience in residential childcare, children's residential care or therapeutic care who is passionate about helping young people feel safe, supported and able to reach their potential.

As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker, you will provide child-centred care, support individual care plans and help create a safe, nurturing and positive environment. You will also provide guidance to other staff and support the day-to-day running of the home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality residential childcare and day-to-day support.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Support individual care plans, development and independence.
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence and life skills.
  • Provide emotional and social support.
  • Monitor behaviour and maintain accurate care records and reports.
  • Identify and report safeguarding and child protection concerns.
  • Support activities, education and community involvement.
  • Work alongside social workers, families, teachers, therapists and other professionals.
  • Provide guidance, support and supervision to Residential Support Workers.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of the children's home.
  • Support the Service Manager and provide cover when required.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least 12 months' experience working with children and young people.
  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • A caring, patient and child-centred approach.
  • Good communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • The ability to assess and manage risks.
  • Experience supporting or supervising other staff is desirable.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People, Health & Social Care or equivalent is desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence.
