Are you ready to take the next step into leadership within residential childcare? We're looking for a Team Leader to help lead and support a team of Residential Support Workers, delivering safe, nurturing, child-centred care to children and young people in our residential home.

About the Role of Team Leader, Children's Residential

As Team Leader, you'll work alongside the Deputy and Registered Manager, guiding your team to meet the complex needs of children and helping them build resilience, form positive relationships, and achieve their individual potential. Every interaction is a chance to provide stability, encouragement and positive role modelling for children and staff alike.

This is a rewarding but responsible role that requires emotional resilience, compassion, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children. What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading, motivating and supporting Residential Support Workers, providing guidance and supervision
  • Conducting regular supervisions and performance reviews
  • Modelling professional, reflective and consistent practice for the team
  • Assisting with recruitment, induction and training of new staff
  • Supporting rota planning to meet children's care needs
  • Delivering high-quality, child-centred care alongside the team
  • Building trusting relationships with children and celebrating their achievements
  • Promoting and maintaining a strong safeguarding culture
  • Ensuring care plans, risk assessments and behaviour strategies are followed consistently
  • Providing guidance to staff on managing challenging behaviour and de-escalation
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care planning and reviews
  • Building positive relationships with families, social workers and other professionals

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Enhanced DBS check valid for working with children and young people
  • Genuine motivation to work with children and make a positive difference
  • Ability to lead, supervise and motivate a team while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to learn, develop professionally and support staff development
  • Ability to work flexibly, including shifts, weekends and sleep-ins
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:

  • Level 5 leadership/management qualification in residential childcare
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff
  • Experience working within a regulated residential care environment
  • Experience supporting children with complex needs or challenging behaviours
  • Full UK driving licence
