Are you an experienced Complex Care Team Leader or Senior Support Worker looking for a role where you can combine hands-on care with genuine leadership responsibility?
Mash Care is recruiting on behalf of a private client for an experienced and confident Team Leader to lead an established support team working with an individual in their own home in Cambridgeshire.
This is a varied and rewarding role combining hands-on complex care, team leadership and dedicated management time. You won't be expected to squeeze the leadership responsibilities in around care shifts — the role includes 15 hours of dedicated admin time each week to manage the team, rotas, care plans, risk assessments and the wider running of the package.
The role
The position is paid at £20.86 per hour and consists of:
- One 12-hour care shift per week
- One night shift per week
- 15 hours of dedicated admin and management time per week
This is not a traditional care setting. The support is entirely centred around one individual, their rehabilitation, independence, goals and quality of life.
What you'll be responsible for
We're looking for someone with strong practical experience in complex care and team management. You'll need to be confident taking ownership of the package and ensuring the support team operates consistently and effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the support team
- Creating, reviewing and updating care and rehabilitation support plans
- Completing and reviewing risk assessments
- Managing staff rotas and ensuring appropriate shift coverage
- Providing regular supervision and appraisals
- Arranging and leading team meetings
- Mentoring, motivating and supporting team members
- Ensuring staff follow agreed care plans, risk assessments and rehabilitation strategies
- Maintaining accurate records and reports
- Working closely with the client's family and wider professional team
- Supporting the efficient day-to-day running of the client's home
- Monitoring the quality and consistency of support provided
- Ordering equipment and supplies when required
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you'll remain actively involved in supporting the client.
You will:
- Build a positive and professional relationship with the client
- Promote independence and autonomy wherever possible
- Support daily routines and activities of daily living
- Help plan daily, weekly and monthly activities
- Encourage and facilitate access to the community
- Support participation in leisure and sporting activities
- Accompany the client to appointments and activities
- Provide companionship, encouragement and reassurance
- Support with personal care, medication and healthcare needs
- Assist with food preparation and nutrition
- Help maintain a safe and comfortable home environment
You'll be an active part of the client's rehabilitation programme, working closely with therapists and other professionals to ensure agreed strategies are consistently followed.
This may include supporting:
- Physical rehabilitation
- Cognitive strategies
- Behavioural strategies
- Development and maintenance of daily living skills
- Confidence and independence
- Motivation and engagement
Who we're looking for
This is not a first-step Team Leader position. We're looking for someone who already has strong experience within complex care and can confidently take ownership of the leadership and administrative responsibilities of the package.
You will need experience in:
- Complex care
- Creating and reviewing care plans
- Completing and updating risk assessments
- Staff rostering and rota management
- Team leadership and management
- Experience working in rehabilitation or with an individual with complex needs
- Experience supervising and appraising staff
- Confidence working with families and multidisciplinary professionals
- Excellent written communication and record-keeping skills
- Experience supporting with personal care and medication
- The ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions
- A professional approach to confidentiality
- A flexible, reliable and calm manner
Why apply?
At £20.86 per hour, this is an opportunity to take on a genuine leadership role where you'll have both hands-on involvement and the dedicated time needed to manage the package properly.
You'll have the opportunity to build a meaningful professional relationship with one client, lead a dedicated support team and play an important part in an ongoing rehabilitation journey.
If you're an experienced complex care professional with strong skills in care planning, risk assessment, rostering and team management, we'd love to hear from you.
