The Role
We are seeking a Senior Technical Architect to support a major transformation programme focused on secure third-party access to digital services. You will define architectural direction, shape IAM and integration solutions, and work across Discovery and Alpha phases with engineering, security, product and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Define target-state architecture for organisational and third-party access.
- Assess current platforms and identify gaps, risks and opportunities.
- Produce architecture options, roadmaps and technical recommendations.
- Design scalable API, integration and cloud-based solutions.
- Lead IAM architecture covering authentication, authorisation and delegated access.
- Apply OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, RBAC and related security standards.
- Design event-driven and modern integration approaches.
- Support engineering teams within Agile, DevOps and CI/CD environments.
- Present solutions through governance and architecture review forums.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders, security teams and enterprise architects.
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience as a Technical, Solution or Enterprise Architect.
- Experience delivering complex digital transformation programmes.
- Strong background within government, public sector or regulated environments.
- Deep understanding of Identity & Access Management.
- Practical experience with OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
- Expertise in API, integration and AWS architecture.
- Experience working across legacy and modern technology estates.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
- BPSS eligibility.
Desirable
- Government or GDS-aligned experience.
- Knowledge of organisational identity and entitlement management.
- Experience with enterprise identity platforms.
- Exposure to event-driven architecture, Kubernetes and containerisation.
- Understanding of government technology standards and service design principles.
