Eden Brown are seeking an experienced Technical Assessor - Welding & Fabrication for a Further Education College in the North East to join their successful Energy Academy team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an industry professional with a strong background in welding and fabrication to play a key role in developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople through high-quality apprenticeship training and assessment.
Working within a well-established and respected department, you will support apprentices undertaking Plate Welder and Metal Fabricator programmes, delivering engaging learning experiences while ensuring learners make excellent progress towards successful completion. The role combines classroom delivery, workplace assessment, employer engagement and learner support, making it ideal for someone passionate about both industry and education.
The Role
As a Technical Assessor, you will:
- Deliver and assess apprenticeship programmes in Welding and Fabrication
- Manage a caseload of learners, supporting them through their apprenticeship journey
- Conduct workplace visits and employer reviews
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate e-portfolio records
- Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment and qualification achievement
- Build strong relationships with employers and industry partners
- Support curriculum development and contribute to continuous improvement activities
- Ensure compliance with awarding organisation, quality assurance and funding requirements
The Ideal Candidate
We are keen to hear from candidates who possess:
- Significant industry experience within Welding, Fabrication or the wider Energy sector
- A recognised vocational qualification in a relevant discipline
- A passion for developing apprentices and supporting learner achievement
- Strong organisational, communication and IT skills
- Experience of teaching, training or assessing apprenticeships (desirable)
- A recognised post-16 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
- A TAQA Assessor qualification (or willingness to achieve)
- English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or equivalent
A DBS is also required for this role, if you do not have one Eden Brown can get one on your behalf.
