Join a Leading Commercial Workplace Specialist An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly respected and long-established commercial interiors business with an outstanding reputation for delivering exceptional workplace environments across the South of England.
With over 50 years of success, our confidential client specialises in the design, refurbishment and fit-out of offices, laboratories and industrial workplaces. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their design team by appointing either:
- An experienced Technical Workplace Designer looking for their next challenge, or
- A motivated graduate with a degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Technology or a related discipline who is eager to develop their career within commercial workplace design.
The Role
Based full-time from the company's Reading office, you'll play a key role in transforming workplace concepts into technically coordinated, buildable solutions.
Working closely with the Pre-Construction and Operations teams, you'll help ensure every project is commercially viable, technically accurate and ready for delivery on site.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed technical drawing packages including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, power and data layouts, elevations and bespoke joinery details.
- Coordinating technical information across M&E, HVAC, partitioning and workplace layouts.
- Collaborating with the Pre-Construction team throughout tender and design development.
- Assisting with technical queries and ensuring designs align with budgets and programme requirements.
- Liaising with Approved Inspectors, Fire Consultants and external specialists to achieve Building Regulations compliance.
- Carrying out site surveys and attending project meetings.
- Maintaining drawing accuracy and CAD standards across multiple projects.
- Supporting the successful delivery of workplace fit-out projects from design through to construction.
- Previous experience within commercial workplace, office fit-out or interior design.
- Strong AutoCAD skills (Revit experience advantageous).
- Knowledge of workplace construction detailing and technical drawing production.
- Understanding of M&E coordination, partition systems, bespoke joinery and commercial interiors.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with strong attention to detail.
You'll ideally have:
- A degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architectural Technology or a similar discipline.
- AutoCAD skills (Revit, SketchUp or Adobe Creative Suite would be an advantage).
- A keen eye for detail and an enthusiasm for learning.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- A genuine interest in commercial interiors and workplace environments.
Bonus Skills While this is primarily a technical design role, experience in any of the following would be highly beneficial:
- Workplace space planning
- Material and finishes specification
- Furniture selection
- 3D visualisations
- Mood board creation
- Client presentation support
- Detail-oriented with exceptional technical accuracy.

- Competitive salary of £45,000–£55,000 (dependent on experience).
