Technical Designer – Architectural Glazing & Partitioning

The Opportunity

We are working with an established specialist contractor within the commercial fit-out sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Design Technician to join their technical design team.

The company delivers standard and bespoke interior fit-out solutions for commercial construction projects, including glazed partitions, doors, joinery, atriums, etc.

The Role

As Technical Designer, you will produce and coordinate technical design information from project award through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing accurate 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Revit

  • Preparing technical and fabrication drawings for glazed partitioning systems, doors and screens

  • Managing design deliverables in line with project programmes and deadlines

  • Ensuring buildability, safety, access and cost are considered throughout the design process

  • Checking drawings against project specifications, fire performance and acoustic requirements

  • Liaising with architects, main contractors, engineers, suppliers and specialist subcontractors

  • Attending internal and external design meetings

  • Preparing drawing registers, door schedules, screen schedules and other project deliverables

  • Producing and issuing technical submissions

  • Uploading and managing drawings through client document-control portals

  • Coordinating manufacturing information and material requisitions

  • Maintaining accurate project records and following internal design procedures

  • Ensuring work complies with relevant health and safety, quality and environmental standards

About You

The successful Design Technician should have:

  • At least three years’ experience in a technical design role within commercial interiors

  • Strong AutoCAD and Revit skills

  • Experience interpreting architectural drawings, specifications and manufacturing details

  • Confidence communicating with architects, main contractors and other specialist trades

  • The ability to convert written and verbal information into accurate 2D and 3D drawings

  • The ability to manage deadlines and work independently when required

  • A genuine interest in developing within technical design
