An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Facilities Manager to join a highly advanced manufacturing business operating within a brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Severn Beach.
Offering a salary of up to £60,000 plus an excellent benefits package, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the technical facilities function within a cutting-edge manufacturing environment, supporting advanced production, engineering laboratories and specialist cleanroom facilities.
This is a pivotal leadership position responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical infrastructure across manufacturing and engineering operations. You will lead the Facilities function, managing specialist contractors whilst developing an internal team, driving operational excellence, statutory compliance and continuous improvement.
Please note that this role is specifically suited to candidates who have previously worked within complex manufacturing environments. Applicants must have previous experience supporting both cleanroom facilities and manufacturing shop floor operations. Applications from candidates without this background will unfortunately not be considered.
The Role
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will have overall responsibility for the management of the site's technical facilities and engineering infrastructure, ensuring maximum reliability, compliance and business continuity.
Responsibilities include:
Providing technical leadership across all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, controls and life safety systems.
Acting as the technical authority for engineering standards, safe systems of work, isolation procedures and engineering change control.
Managing all critical building services including HVAC, cleanrooms, gas systems, water systems, electrical infrastructure and Building Management Systems (BMS).
Developing and implementing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes alongside reliability-centred and condition-based maintenance strategies.
Managing reactive maintenance and emergency works to minimise downtime.
Leading technical incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Ensuring the resilience of critical infrastructure including HV/LV distribution, UPS systems, generators, chillers, boilers and life safety systems.
Managing the CAFM system, ensuring accurate asset records, maintenance history and lifecycle planning.
Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability and operational performance.
Cleanroom & Manufacturing Facilities
Maintaining cleanroom performance in line with required classifications and ISO standards.
Managing environmental monitoring and contamination control.
Working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure facilities continue to support operational requirements.
Ensuring critical systems remain fully operational to minimise production downtime.
Contractor & Supplier Management
Managing outsourced facilities providers across maintenance, security, cleaning and waste management.
Establishing and monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Managing contractor performance and ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
Driving value, performance and continuous improvement from supplier relationships.
Asset Management & Budget Control
Managing the Facilities budget.
Supporting capital investment planning and infrastructure improvement projects.
Developing long-term asset lifecycle plans.
Maintaining accurate asset condition and criticality data.
Supporting business continuity through effective infrastructure planning.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Working closely with the Health & Safety team to ensure compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations, PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, COSHH, DSEAR, HSG274/ACoP L8 and Fire Safety legislation.
Owning facilities-related risk assessments, Permit-to-Work systems and Safe Systems of Work.
Ensuring statutory inspections are completed and documented.
Maintaining emergency response and contingency plans.
Supporting internal, customer and external audits.
Leadership
Leading, developing and motivating the Facilities Team.
Setting objectives, performance standards and development plans.
Promoting a proactive, safety-first culture.
Driving continuous improvement across the Facilities function.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity you must have previous experience as a Technical Facilities Manager, Facilities Manager or similar leadership position within a complex manufacturing environment.
Previous experience working within cleanroom environments is essential.
Previous experience supporting manufacturing shop floor operations is essential.
Strong understanding of critical building services including HVAC, electrical infrastructure, gas systems, water systems and Building Management Systems.
Experience developing Planned Preventative Maintenance programmes.
Experience managing outsourced contractors and facilities service providers.
Strong knowledge of engineering compliance and UK Health & Safety legislation.
Experience managing facilities budgets and asset lifecycle planning.
Experience leading and developing technical teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational excellence.
Desirable
Degree qualified in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related discipline.
Membership of IWFM, CIBSE or another relevant professional body.
Experience within semiconductor, electronics, aerospace, pharmaceutical, medical device or other high-technology manufacturing sectors.
Knowledge of sustainability and energy management initiatives.
