Personnel Selection are assisting in the recruitment of a practical, confident Technical Leader for a busy engineering manufacturing environment based within Andover Hampshire. Working closely with line management, you will help maximise output and quality by developing people, improving processes and providing technical support where it matters most on the shop floor.

This is not a desk-based supervisory position. This is a hands on "roll your sleeves up" role. You will be visible in the production area, working shoulder to shoulder with operators and stepping in to prepare jobs, set up machines, support checks and remove obstacles to production. You will be operating the machinery along with the rest of the production team, supporting operators, setting up equipment, resolving day-to-day issues and helping the area deliver products on time, safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

If you are an experienced production professional who enjoys solving problems, supporting people and getting involved, we would like to hear from you.

Pay rate is £14.97ph based on a 39 hour week. Working hours will be 7.45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 7.45am to 12.45pm Fridays.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead by example, working hands-on alongside the production team throughout the shift.
  • Help maximise productive time and minimise downtime by preparing jobs, materials and tooling in advance.
  • Set up machines for less experienced operators and support continuity through breaks, holidays and sickness.
  • Carry out first-off and buddy checks within your capabilities, taking ownership of quality in your area.
  • Spot and report safety, machinery, facilities or IT issues that could affect people or production.
  • Train and coach new or inexperienced operators so they can work safely, confidently and effectively.
  • Support labour bookings, material management, stock identification, storage and cycle counts.
  • Maintain strong 5S standards and contribute practical expertise to continuous-improvement activity.
  • Work with line management to keep the team skills matrix accurate and up to date.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties where required.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU?

  • Previous experience across multiple manufacturing functions or processes within a production department.
  • A practical, sleeves-rolled-up approach and the confidence to support colleagues on the shop floor.
  • The ability to follow procedures accurately and promptly, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to train, guide and motivate others.
  • A flexible, positive and collaborative attitude.
  • An organised approach to priorities, preparation and problem-solving in a fast-moving environment.

WHY APPLY AND WHATS ON OFFER?

This role offers the chance to make a visible impact every day. You will combine your technical knowledge with practical leadership, helping people develop while keeping work flowing and standards high. The daytime schedule and early Friday finish provide a consistent working pattern

Once you join the company as a permanent employee, you can access a wide-ranging benefits package. Eligibility and waiting periods apply:

  • Health and wellbeing: cash-plan membership covering dental, optical, gym discounts and more; annual flu vaccinations; confidential annual health checks; and private medical cover after two years.
  • Financial protection and advice: four times salary death-in-service cover after 12 weeks, annual face-to-face pension guidance, free mortgage advice, and professional support with wills and lasting powers of attorney.
  • Reward and recognition: discretionary profit/on-time-delivery and performance/attendance bonuses, subject to scheme rules and qualifying service; recognition initiatives; and long-service awards every five years.
  • Development and lifestyle: company-sponsored further education on request, company events, and a cycle-to-work scheme after one year of permanent service.
