We’re growing fast and our private domestic and commercial pipeline is expanding, we need a sharp, driven Head of Technical/ Technical Manager to help us convert more opportunities into projects – We believe in rewarding results.

The Opportunity:

This is a hybrid technical and commercial role. You’ll have an electrical background and have the ability to survey properties, build technical budgets and specifications, and provide expert technical advice to customers, our sales team and suppliers – covering electrics, wiring, cabling and the installation requirements of our full product range.

You’ll meet clients directly across private domestic, residential, commercial, social housing and local authority sectors, work together with the sales & operations team to convert opportunities into projects, and work with suppliers to make sure we’re specifying the right products for every job. It’s both an internal and external facing role, and you’ll play a key part in the commercial growth of the business.

You’ll report to the both the Managing Director and Commercial Director and be based at our Irvine, Ayrshire HQ, with regular travel to sites and clients across Scotland.

The Role:

  • Carry out technical surveys of properties across private domestic, residential, commercial, social housing and local authority sectors, assessing feasibility for ASHPs, Solar PV, Battery Storage, EV charging, insulation and Windows & Doors.
  • Prepare accurate technical budgets and costings for proposed retrofit measures, making sure every design is technically sound and commercially viable before it’s quoted.
  • Provide expert technical advice to customers, the sales team and internal stakeholders on electrical loading, wiring, cabling and installation requirements across our full product range.
  • Overall responsibility of MCS, PAS and required accreditations, with a team member responsible for administration.
  • Meet directly with clients to discuss technical requirements, answer questions and build the trust and credibility that turns opportunities into signed projects.
  • Work closely with the sales team throughout the sales journey, providing technical input at key stages to help convert enquiries into quotations and quotations into projects.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturers to make sure we’re specifying and using the correct products for each project, keeping pace with new technology, product updates and best practice.
  • Act as a key technical point of contact both internally (sales, operations, projects) and externally (clients, suppliers, and building control) to keep the customer journey smooth and joined-up.
  • Play an active part in the commercial growth of the business, spotting opportunities to improve conversion, margin and customer satisfaction through strong technical input.
  • Support the sales and operations teams indirectly, sharing technical knowledge and best practice to help the wider group hit its monthly, quarterly and annual targets.

The Individual:

  • Qualified electrician (SVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent) or an electrical engineering background, ideally with current wiring regulations knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of domestic and commercial wiring, electrics, cabling and the technical requirements behind ASHP, Solar PV, Battery Storage and EV charging installations.
  • Experience surveying properties and producing technical specifications or budgets, ideally within retrofit, renewables, electrical contracting or the wider construction sector.
  • Comfortable operating in both a technical and commercial capacity – able to translate technical detail into advice customers and colleagues can act on.
  • A confident, credible communicator, equally at ease in front of clients, suppliers and colleagues, internally and externally.
  • Commercially sharp: you understand targets, margins and how good technical input drives sales conversion.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple surveys, projects and stakeholders at once.
  • A natural collaborator who can support and influence the sales and operations teams to produce results. Additional benefits:
