Technical Manager

Net Zero Evolution

Job Title: Technical Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, based on experience

Location: Weybridge, Surrey, working predominately across London and the Southeast, with regular site travel

If you have spent years learning solar inside out and you are ready to stop just delivering projects and start shaping how a growing division runs, this is worth a proper look.

Why this role

This is a multi-award-winning renewable energy company based in Surrey, and its Solar and Battery Storage division is one of the business's key growth areas. That growth needs someone who can be trusted to run with it.

You would work directly alongside the Technical Director, not several layers removed from decision-making. This is not a standard project-management post. It is a right-hand role, with real input into how projects are planned, priced and delivered, and a genuine say in how the division develops from here.

What you'll do

You will manage projects from initial enquiry and survey through to installation, commissioning and handover, keeping engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and clients moving in the same direction. That means reviewing surveys, designs and quotations, organising labour, materials and access equipment, and monitoring programmes, costs and profitability as you go.

You will make sure every installation meets MCS requirements, BS 7671 and company standards, manage DNO applications and handover documentation, and attend site meetings and inspections to catch problems before they cost time or money. You will also support the Technical Director with the daily running of the department, and play a real part in growing the Solar division as a whole.

About you

You know Solar PV, Battery Storage or wider electrical project delivery, ideally with five years or more in solar stringing system design and a background in electrical contracting. Familiarity with Solar Edge, PV Sol or Reonic is a strong plus, as is a working knowledge of MCS processes, and you will be comfortable managing a CRM as part of the job.

You hold full electrical qualifications (Gold card or equivalent), plus Solar PV or EESS qualifications such as C&G, BPEC, LCL or EAL, and a full UK driving licence. More than the tickets, you take ownership, stay calm when things get busy, and communicate confidently with clients, engineers and suppliers alike. You understand project costs and margins, not just delivery, and you are just as happy making a decision on your own as coordinating a team.

Rewards & growth

Alongside your salary, you get a company vehicle or car allowance, a company mobile and equipment, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a workplace pension and death-in-service benefit. Ongoing training and professional development are built in, and as the division grows, so does the opportunity to grow with it.
