This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial heating or building services professional to step into a senior technical role with a clear route towards leading the technical function.
The company is an established manufacturer operating within the HVAC sector. They already have a capable, hands-on technical team and are now looking for someone who can bring additional technical depth, fresh thinking and longer-term leadership.
This is not a role focused purely on resolving day-to-day faults, snagging or firefighting. You will be expected to look at how things can be done better, solve complex technical problems and contribute new ideas across product, applications and technical support.
Initially, the position will be broad and hands-on. You will work across a number of technical areas, supporting customers and colleagues while building a detailed understanding of the products and wider business.
Over time, the role will develop into responsibility for the technical team and form part of the company’s senior management structure.
Technical Managers duties:
- Providing high-level technical support across commercial heating projects.
- Solving complex system, application and product-related issues.
- Supporting system design, flow-rate calculations and product selection.
- Improving technical processes and identifying better ways of working.
Technical Managers requirements:
You must be degree-qualified in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
You will ideally come from a commercial heating, hydronics, HVAC or building services background.
More important is your ability to understand technical systems, analyse problems and work out practical solutions.
You should also be:
- Proactive and comfortable taking ownership.
- Commercially aware and able to see beyond individual technical issues.
- Credible with customers, engineers and senior management.
- Emotionally intelligent and capable of developing people.
