My Local Authority Client in the Cambridgeshire area is looking to source an experienced Technical Planning Support Officer to join their Development Management team on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced planning professional with strong knowledge of planning administration and application processes to support the smooth and efficient running of the Planning Service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist administrative support across the planning service, managing planning application processes from start to finish and dealing with a wide range of internal and external enquiries.
Key experience required includes:
- Strong experience working within a Local Authority Planning environment.
- Good knowledge of planning application processes and procedures.
- Experience administering planning applications, appeals, committees, press notices and Land Charges.
- Experience validating a range of planning application types and interpreting national and local planning requirements.
- Ability to assess drawings and plans against relevant planning requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when dealing with data entry, correspondence and GDPR requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide advice and guidance to members of the public and internal stakeholders.
- Experience managing competing workloads, deadlines and generic mailboxes effectively.
The role will involve providing end-to-end planning application support, including administering the planning portal, processing Land Charges, coordinating appeals and press notices, and supporting monthly Planning Committee meetings.
You will also be responsible for responding to customer enquiries, providing information for FOI/EIR requests, processing payments and reconciling transactions, as well as identifying opportunities to improve processes and the customer experience.
The successful candidate will need to be organised, proactive and comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues, service managers and external agencies. Some flexibility around evening Planning Committee meetings may also be required.
Hybrid working is offered, with the expectation to attend the office approximately 1-2 days per week.
The role is expected to start as soon as possible, with an initial 3-month contract and potential opportunity to extend.
