The Opportunity
Based at our state-of-the-art CUBE facility, you’ll play a vital role in supporting high-quality practical learning across all areas of provision within the Construction department.
Working alongside experienced tutors and curriculum leaders, you’ll help to create a safe, well-equipped and industry-standard learning environment where students can develop practical skills, confidence and professional working habits. Your contribution will directly support learners as they prepare for successful careers in the construction industry.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing and setting up materials, tools, and resources for practical lessons in areas such as brickwork, carpentry and joinery, plumbing and plastering.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and machinery to ensure they’re safe and ready for use.
- Assisting tutors and students during practical sessions to support teaching, learning and assessment.
- Managing stock levels and ordering materials as needed, keeping accurate inventories and records.
- Ensuring workshops and teaching areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Supporting the creation of realistic training environments that replicate construction site conditions.
- Helping with the supervision of students during practical tasks, promoting professional working habits and safe practices.
- Assisting with the assessment of students’ practical work where appropriate.
About You
You’ll have strong, hands-on experience in construction with an ability to learn new trade areas quickly, supported by course tutors and curriculum leaders. You’ll be confident using industry-standard tools, materials and techniques, with a clear understanding of the importance of health and safety.
You’ll be organised, reliable and proactive, able to manage your own workload while working effectively as part of a team. You’ll enjoy supporting tutors, helping sessions run smoothly, and contributing to a positive learning environment.
You’ll take pride in maintaining a safe, clean and professional workshop and lead by example when it comes to safe working practices. Friendly and approachable, you’ll enjoy working with learners and supporting them to build confidence and practical skills.
