Wiltshire College & University Centre is looking for a Technician in Painting & Decorating to support practical teaching within our Construction department at our Chippenham Campus.

🕰️ Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time 30 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

What You'll Do

  • Prepare workshops, tools, equipment, and materials for practical Painting & Decorating lessons
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organised workshop facilities to industry standards
  • Support lecturers and students during practical sessions, ensuring resources are ready and equipment is used safely
  • Inspect, maintain, and organise tools, machinery, and specialist decorating equipment
  • Monitor stock levels and prepare, receive, and store paints, coatings, consumables, and materials
  • Carry out routine maintenance of workshop facilities and report repairs where required
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and safe working practices
  • Help create realistic practical learning environments that prepare students for employment in the construction industry

What You'll Bring

  • Level 2 or above qualification in Painting & Decorating (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Practical experience within the painting and decorating industry
  • Good knowledge of decorating techniques, materials, tools, and current health & safety requirements
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach to work
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for supporting learners and maintaining high-quality workshop environments
