Location: Baldock, Hertfordshire
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Technician to join our client's successful team.

Who are they?

Our client is an established manufacturing business based in Baldock, Hertfordshire. They are looking for a technically minded individual to support their operations, quality and technical functions, with responsibility for equipment testing, product and materials testing, technical documentation and compliance.

Duties of a Technician:

  • Provide technical support to staff, including equipment set-up, production trials and testing
  • Carry out product and materials testing in line with established test regimes
  • Create machine processing profiles and test these on the appropriate equipment before handover to operations
  • Complete technical projects and provide regular progress updates
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical and Health & Safety documentation
  • Create and update technical documents and SOPs as required
  • Support the training of staff in relevant SOPs
  • Work with Operations to support technical development and improvements
  • Support the Quality Manager with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ESG requirements
  • Complete customer ESG documentation and maintain relevant records and templates
  • Manage product testing and documentation relating to materials
  • Ensure relevant independent laboratory testing and records are maintained for products and materials
  • Ensure laboratory and shop-floor test equipment is maintained, calibrated and serviced as required
  • Support the Quality department with customer complaints and product rejects, including technical analysis and documentation
  • Provide technical support across internal departments
  • Work with suppliers of materials, products and services to support the objectives of the role
  • Occasional travel to customer and supplier sites in the UK or overseas may be required

What we would like from you:

  • Previous demonstrable experience working in a technical role within a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Experience of carrying out technical testing and working to test plans
  • Experience working with technical documentation and procedures
  • A recognised qualification in Engineering, Materials Science or Materials Testing would be advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with staff at all levels
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and taking responsibility for your work
  • Comfortable working with customers and suppliers on technical matters
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required
