Hill & Hill Recruitment are seeking a Technical Inspector to work with one of our Local Authority clients based in London.
Key Responsibilities
- You will play a key role in inspecting the Council’s housing stock, carrying out surveys and providing accurate technical assessments of properties and building works.
- The role will involve undertaking property inspections, identifying defects and required remedial works, and preparing clear technical recommendations and specifications.
- You will work closely with contractors, surveyors, housing teams, property services and other internal stakeholders to ensure works are identified, progressed and completed to the required standard.
- You will monitor works on site, assess quality and progress, identify any issues or defects and ensure appropriate remedial action is taken.
- You will provide accurate information and updates relating to property condition, repairs, planned works and outstanding defects, maintaining appropriate records and reporting findings to senior colleagues.
- The role will involve attending properties and sites as required, liaising with residents, contractors and colleagues to resolve technical issues and ensure works are delivered effectively.
- You will support the wider surveying and asset management function by providing technical input into property inspections, condition assessments and works programmes.
Your Experience
- Significant experience working as a Technical Inspector, Building Surveyor, Clerk of Works or similar role within social housing, Local Authority or a property environment.
- Strong experience undertaking property inspections, building surveys and identifying defects across residential housing stock.
- Good knowledge of building construction, maintenance, repairs and remedial works.
- Experience preparing technical specifications, schedules of works and/or reports based on property inspections.
- Proven ability to monitor contractors and assess the quality and progress of works on site.
- Experience identifying defects, diagnosing building issues and recommending appropriate remedial solutions.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and relevant standards relating to residential property.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with residents, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Strong IT and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain accurate inspection records and produce clear technical reports.
- A relevant qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, Property, Housing or a related discipline would be advantageous.
