Temporary Accommodation Officer – North East
I’m currently working with a local authority in the North East that is looking to bring in an experienced Temporary Accommodation Officer on a long-term interim basis.
This would suit someone who has worked across temporary accommodation, homelessness, housing management or tenancy management and is comfortable dealing with both the property and resident side of the service.
You’ll be responsible for a portfolio of temporary accommodation and the households living within it, covering everything from tenancy management and arrears through to repairs, inspections, voids and landlord relationships.
Rate: £27.00 - £33.00 ph
Contract: Interim / Temporary

Working pattern: Hybrid – 3 days site-based
What you'll be doing
- Looking after a portfolio of temporary accommodation properties and the households placed within them.
- Managing day-to-day tenancy and licence issues, including arrears, breaches, voids and lettings.
- Coordinating the placement of homeless households into suitable temporary accommodation.
- Carrying out property and resident visits and making sure accommodation remains safe, suitable and compliant.
- Working closely with landlords, accommodation providers, contractors and internal teams to resolve repairs and property issues.
- Managing relationships with accommodation suppliers, including PLAs, HALs and other providers.
- Keeping an eye on occupancy levels and reducing unnecessary void periods.
- Dealing with resident complaints, neighbour disputes and more complex tenancy issues.
- Taking appropriate action where there are tenancy or licence breaches, including Notices to Quit and legal action where necessary.
- Supporting residents by signposting them towards housing, benefits, employment and other relevant services.
- Managing households moving on from temporary accommodation and dealing with abandoned possessions where required.
- Keeping housing and financial records up to date and producing performance information and KPIs.
- Using Excel and Power BI to monitor expenditure, performance and temporary accommodation costs.
- Working alongside colleagues to ensure the service remains compliant with homelessness legislation, housing regulations and internal policies.
