JOB TITLE: Production and Assembly Operative (Temporary role | Immediate Start)
LOCATION: Ilminster
HOURLY RATE: £14.00 - £15.50 (DOE)
DURATION: 4 Months
HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:00am till 4:30pm

We are seeking a highly organised and punctual Assembly Operative to join a thriving global business based in Ilminster, supporting them with a new and urgent project. You will be responsible for setting up machinery, processes, and equipment to ensure the safe and efficient manufacture of optics, while following established procedures, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and driving departmental output and continuous improvement targets. This is a temporary role starting immediately until the end of the year therefore you must be available immediately and able to commit to the duration of the role.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble optical and mechanical products
- Accurately reading and following drawings
- Inspect optical components, metalwork, and finished products to ensure they meet required quality specifications.
- Prepare materials, mix adhesives, and carry out precision optical bonding and sub-assembly work.
- Operate production equipment safely and efficiently in line with manufacturing procedures and standard operating practices.
- Complete production documentation accurately, including history cards, inspection records, and non-conformance reporting.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while supporting colleagues and maintaining high standards of health, safety, and quality compliance.
