We are currently recruiting for an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator to join a major UK infrastructure programme in London, on an initial 12-month contract.

This £340 day-rate position sits within a multidisciplinary engineering and construction team, supporting the safe design, coordination, installation and assurance of temporary works across a complex civil engineering project.

Responsibilities and duties of the Principle Contractor Temporary Works Coordinator role

As Temporary Works Coordinator, you will act as a key interface between engineering, design and construction teams, and will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and regularly updating the Temporary Works Register / Schedule
  • Coordinating temporary works requirements between design, engineering and construction teams
  • Preparing and reviewing temporary works design briefs before issue to designers
  • Ensuring temporary works designs comply with the approved design brief
  • Coordinating design reviews, checks, approvals and associated documentation
  • Managing temporary works design progress against the construction programme
  • Ensuring sufficient time is allowed for design, checking, approval and installation
  • Managing temporary works design changes and revisions
  • Ensuring relevant design check and approval documentation is completed
  • Providing technical guidance to project and construction teams
  • Supporting the management of temporary works risks during pre-construction and delivery
  • Reviewing method statements, work package plans and construction activities relating to temporary works
  • Carrying out inspections of temporary works installations
  • Ensuring installations comply with approved designs before loading or use
  • Establishing and managing inspection and hold points
  • Producing and reviewing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Check Sheets
  • Monitoring temporary works installations and ensuring they are correctly maintained
  • Coordinating with subcontractor Temporary Works Coordinators and Supervisors
  • Liaising with client representatives and other project stakeholders
  • Supporting the assessment and ongoing competence of Temporary Works Supervisors
  • Ensuring temporary works activities comply with project procedures, safety requirements and applicable standards


Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Strong working knowledge of BS 5975:2019
  • A valid CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training Certificate

An HNC/HND or higher qualification in Civil Engineering would be advantageous but is not essential. IEng or CEng status would also be beneficial.



Personal skills and prior experience

The Temporary Works Coordinator role would suit someone who has:

  • Experience within rail, nuclear, major infrastructure or complex civil engineering projects
  • Experience managing temporary works registers, design briefs, checks and approvals
  • Experience coordinating temporary works designers and construction teams
  • Experience carrying out temporary works inspections and assurance activities
  • Strong understanding of construction risk, design management and temporary works procedures
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to manage multiple temporary works packages and priorities at the same time

Due to the nature of the project, the successful candidate will be required to complete the appropriate DBS and project security clearance process.
