We are looking for multiple experienced, motivated, and skilled professionals to join a growing engineering consultancy delivering innovative design solutions across a wide range of construction sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced temporary works engineer to join a collaborative team working on diverse and technically challenging projects in Bristol.
About the Role
As a temporary works engineer, you will play a key role in delivering safe, practical, and cost-effective engineering solutions for construction projects throughout the UK and internationally. Applicants should have at least three years of experience in a design-focused engineering role, with a strong understanding of temporary works design and BS 5975.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad portfolio of projects while contributing to innovative engineering solutions in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality temporary works designs for a variety of construction projects.
- Produce clear engineering calculations, technical drawings, and design documentation.
- Plan, design, and coordinate temporary works using industry-standard software and engineering principles.
- Carry out site visits, inspections, and surveys to develop safe and practical engineering solutions.
- Provide technical support to colleagues and clients while managing multiple projects to demanding deadlines.
- Continue developing technical knowledge and remain up to date with current industry standards and best practice.
- Promote a strong safety culture by applying the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
- Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to the development of the wider team.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional institution.
- A minimum of three years' experience in a design-based engineering role.
- Strong knowledge of temporary works design principles and BS 5975.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in 2D AutoCAD.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sections, and general arrangements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT and technical software skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling or drafting software.
- Experience in permanent works civil or structural engineering.
- Previous experience as a temporary works engineer on a variety of construction projects.
- A proactive and collaborative approach with the ambition to develop into a senior temporary works engineer.
