Test Technician in Luton, Bedfordshire

We are recruiting an experienced Test Technician to join a well-established electronics manufacturing business in Luton.

This is a hands-on position involving the testing, diagnosis and repair of electronic production units and PCBs. The successful candidate will need strong component-level fault-finding skills and previous experience working within an electronics manufacturing or production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Test complete electronic production units and PCB assemblies
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to component level
• Investigate production failures and complete root-cause analysis
• Repair PCB, test-equipment and electronic component failures
• Maintain test equipment and respond to equipment breakdowns
• Test PCBs used within high-voltage applications
• Rework SMT and through-hole components
• Prepare accurate test, fault and failure reports
• Support the investigation of customer returns and warranty issues
• Work closely with production, quality and engineering teams
• Support continuous-improvement, 5S and quality initiatives
• Ensure work meets relevant IPC, ISO and production standards

Skills and experience required

• Previous experience as an Electronics Test Technician, Electronics Technician, Repair Technician or similar
• Strong electronic and PCB fault-finding experience
• Ability to diagnose and repair faults to component level
• Experience working with SMT and through-hole components
• Understanding of technical drawings and testing procedures
• Confident using electronic test equipment
• Good written communication and report-writing skills
• A formal electronics or electrical qualification, ideally Level 3, ONC/OND, HNC or degree
• Experience within electronics or electrical manufacturing
• Ability to work a rotating early and late shift pattern

Knowledge of IPC-A-610, high-voltage testing, SAP or another ERP system would be advantageous.

Shifts: Rotating bi-weekly, 06:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00
