Bright Futures Recruitment is working with a specialist SEND/SEMH school in the Chelmsford area that is looking to appoint a Therapeutic Practitioner to join its established team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children and young people with SEMH, trauma, additional needs and challenging behaviour.

The Role

You will work closely with pupils who may have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences and require a therapeutic approach to help them regulate, engage with education and make positive progress.

Responsibilities will include:

• Providing individual and small-group therapeutic support
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and wellbeing
• Building strong and consistent relationships with young people
• Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional SEND needs
• Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
• Delivering targeted interventions and therapeutic activities
• Working alongside teachers, support staff and other professionals
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence

About You

We would be interested in hearing from candidates with experience in areas such as:

• SEND / SEMH education
• Therapeutic support
• Pastoral or behaviour support
• Mental health and wellbeing
• Youth work
• Family support
• Social care
• Learning support
• Alternative provision / PRU settings

You will need to be patient, resilient and confident working with young people who may display challenging behaviour. Most importantly, you will be able to build positive relationships and understand that behaviour is often a form of communication.
