First 12 Weeks

  • Basic: £18.72 (£21.44 Adv Holiday)
  • OT: £28.08 (£32.16 Adv Holiday)
  • Sunday: £37.44 (£42.88 Adv Holiday)

After 12 Weeks

  • Basic: £19.29 (£22.09 Adv Holiday)
  • OT: £28.93 (£33.14 Adv Holiday)
  • Sunday: £38.58 (£44.18 Adv Holiday)


TIG Welder / Fitter - Gimbals Section

We are recruiting for an experienced TIG Welder / Fitter to join a leading aerospace manufacturer within their specialist Gimbals Production Team.

This is a hands-on manufacturing role, with approximately 70% TIG welding and 30% fitting and assembly work, producing high-precision aerospace components from raw material through to finished product. The successful candidate will work within a highly regulated environment where quality, accuracy, and attention to detail are critical.

The role is primarily based on the core day shift, although there is scope for candidates who would prefer to work a late shift.



Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out precision TIG welding on aerospace components to approved specifications.
  • Perform fitting and assembly activities associated with gimbal and bellows manufacture.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manufacture products from raw material through to finished assembly.
  • Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Complete work to strict aerospace quality standards and tolerances.
  • Conduct self-inspection and obtain authorisation ("stamp") to sign off completed work.
  • Support testing and inspection activities where required.
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing records and documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and 8D investigations when required.
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams.


Skills & Experience



Essential

  • Proven TIG welding experience within a precision engineering, aerospace, defence, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience carrying out fitting and mechanical assembly work.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
  • Experience following manufacturing procedures and quality documentation.
  • Competent in the use of hand tools and workshop equipment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.


Desirable

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Bellows manufacturing
  • Gimbal assembly
  • Lathe turning
  • Brazing
  • Seam welding
  • Resistance welding
  • Electron beam welding
  • Aluminium welding
  • Aerospace testing processes
  • NDT and X-Ray inspection environments
  • Rolls-Royce assembly standards
