An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tool Maker to join an established manufacturing team within a specialist engineering environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, manufacture, maintenance and repair of precision tooling, moulds, jigs and fixtures, supporting efficient and high-quality production.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background, excellent attention to detail and experience working with precision machining, fabrication and tooling applications.
Key Duties:
Design and develop tooling, jigs and fixtures using CAD software, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent.
Manufacture and modify precision tooling using milling, grinding, welding, fabrication and assembly techniques.
Maintain, repair and modify existing tools and moulds to maximise performance and service life.
Operate a range of hand tools, workshop machinery and fabrication equipment.
Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and dimensional requirements.
Work closely with production teams to understand tooling requirements and resolve manufacturing or tooling issues.
Carry out quality checks and dimensional inspections to ensure tooling meets required tolerances and standards.
Support troubleshooting and problem-solving activities relating to tooling and production equipment.
Record tooling modifications, repairs and manufacturing procedures accurately.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Tool Maker, Toolmaker, Tooling Engineer or similar within a manufacturing environment.
Strong practical machining experience, including milling and grinding.
Experience with welding, fabrication and mechanical assembly.
Good working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent.
Mechanical knowledge and practical experience relating to plastics injection moulding and tooling.
Confident using hand tools, workshop machinery and fabrication equipment.
Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of precision manufacturing and working to tight tolerances.
The Package:
£36,000-£42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
