About the Role

IRS are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Toolmaker CNC Machinist Improver to join our busy press shop and toolroom environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified apprentice or someone with a few years of engineering experience who is looking to further develop their skills within a supportive and experienced team.

Working on automotive panels and tooling, you will be involved in the maintenance and development of press tools, jigs, and fixtures. This varied role offers ongoing mentoring and training across a broad range of toolmaking and CNC machining activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair press tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Carry out CNC machining operations.
  • Perform bench fitting and assembly work.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Operate radial drilling and surface grinding equipment.
  • Assist with tool try-outs, snagging, and fault rectification.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the toolroom.
  • Work safely and effectively within a busy manufacturing environment.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Engineering Apprenticeship or relevant Manufacturing/Engineering qualification.
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Experience or knowledge of CNC machining.
  • Bench fitting and general toolroom skills.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and a positive attitude.

Working Hours

Option 1

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm
  • Friday: 7:00am – 12:00pm

Option 2

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
