Location: Aldershot

Salary: £33,000 - £39,000 per annum - depending on experience

Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business seeking a skilled Toolmaker / Grinder to join their existing engineering team.

This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced manual or CNC machinist, toolroom engineer or similar engineering professional with strong grinding experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing precision components to customer specifications, working to fine tolerances and ensuring all work is completed to the required quality standards and deadlines.

Toolmaker / Grinder Position Overview

• Carry out precision grinding and machining activities within a toolroom and production environment.
• Undertake a range of grinding operations, including surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, bore/internal grinding and ring grinding.
• Carry out honing operations to achieve required component specifications and tolerances.
• Work to fine tolerances and accurately interpret technical engineering drawings.
• Set up and operate relevant manual and CNC machinery and grinding equipment.
• Use a range of precision measuring equipment to inspect completed components and ensure they meet drawing and customer requirements.
• Work independently to complete machining and grinding activities while also contributing effectively as part of the wider engineering team.
• Ensure components are produced to the required quality standards, specifications and tolerances.
• Work within a production environment to meet customer requirements and agreed delivery deadlines.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail throughout all machining and inspection activities.

Toolmaker / Grinder Position Requirements

• Demonstrable experience as a skilled manual or CNC machinist, toolmaker, toolroom engineer or similar engineering role.
• Strong practical grinding experience, including:
• Surface Grinding
• Cylindrical Grinding
• Bore / Internal Grinding
• Ring Grinding
• Honing
• Ability to work accurately to fine tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Apprentice-trained or qualified by experience within an engineering or toolroom environment.

Toolmaker / Grinder Position Remuneration

• Salary £33,000 - £39,000 per annum - depending on experience
• Monday to Thursday with an early finish on Friday - 39 hour working week. Friday finish at 1:15pm
• Overtime available at 1.3x basic hourly rate during the week
• Weekend overtime paid at 1.5x basic hourly rate
• 25 days holiday per year, with some holiday allocation taken over the Christmas period
