Toolroom Technician

Candour Talent are recruiting a Toolroom Technician to join their client’s team in Port Talbot.

• Working Hours: Days Only
• Salary: Circa £40k

Our client is looking for a skilled Toolroom Technician to join their team on a permanent basis. The role offers secure employment, long-term development opportunities, and a range of benefits.

The Role:

• Preparing tooling and changeover equipment in advance of upcoming changeovers
• Inspection of tools returned to the tool room for defects and quality
• Ensure all tools are cleaned on return to the tool room
• Stock control and ordering parts, as necessary
• Internal calibration all internal measurement equipment
• Support with coaching and training of production team during changeovers
• Record keeping and documentation (tools, calibration checks etc)
• Housekeeping within the tool room.
• Internal audits
• Owner of tool room process and procedures

The Ideal Candidate:

• HNC in Engineering and time served apprenticeship in Engineering, preferred
• Able to understand engineering drawings and tolerances
• Competent on tool room machines such as Lathe, milling machine, and grinders. Use of micrometre, vernier, height gauge, and DTI
• Knowledge and experience of 5S Lean Manufacture
• Good IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Motivated to work alone and manage own workload
• Able to work effectively within a team to deliver a task or project.
• Thrives under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Able to plan and prioritise.
