The Role

As a Chartered Town Planner, you will be involved in a broad range of planning work, providing strategic and practical advice to clients and supporting projects from initial feasibility through to determination.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a varied caseload of planning projects.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
  • Providing planning advice to private and commercial clients.
  • Undertaking planning appraisals and development assessments.
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, consultees and other stakeholders.
  • Preparing planning statements, representations and supporting documentation.
  • Advising clients on planning strategy and development opportunities.
  • Supporting business development and contributing to the continued growth of the consultancy.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional contacts.


About You

We are looking for a Chartered Town Planner with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and a genuine interest in development and consultancy.

You will ideally have:

  • Chartered status with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, developer or local authority environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • A commercially minded and client-focused approach.
  • Confidence in dealing with clients, planning officers and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, report-writing and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
