The Role
As a Chartered Town Planner, you will be involved in a broad range of planning work, providing strategic and practical advice to clients and supporting projects from initial feasibility through to determination.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied caseload of planning projects.
- Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
- Providing planning advice to private and commercial clients.
- Undertaking planning appraisals and development assessments.
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultees and other stakeholders.
- Preparing planning statements, representations and supporting documentation.
- Advising clients on planning strategy and development opportunities.
- Supporting business development and contributing to the continued growth of the consultancy.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional contacts.
About You
We are looking for a Chartered Town Planner with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and a genuine interest in development and consultancy.
You will ideally have:
- Chartered status with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, developer or local authority environment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- A commercially minded and client-focused approach.
- Confidence in dealing with clients, planning officers and other stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, report-writing and negotiation skills.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
