Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established and highly regarded independent planning consultancy with the appointment of a Town Planner / Senior Town Planner to join their growing team.

The Role

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced planning professionals, providing strategic and development management advice to a broad range of public and private sector clients.

The consultancy works across a varied portfolio including housing delivery, strategic land, residential development, town centres, retail and leisure, education, employment and regeneration.

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, build strong client relationships and develop your planning career within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing professional planning advice to clients across a range of development projects.
  * Managing and contributing to planning applications from inception through to determination.
  * Preparing planning appraisals, statements and supporting planning documentation.
  * Undertaking research into planning policy and legislation.
  * Supporting strategic planning and development projects.
  * Liaising with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
  * Attending meetings with clients, planning officers and stakeholders.
  * Supporting public consultation and community engagement where required.
  * Managing your own workload and project deadlines.
  * Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
  * Supporting more junior members of the team where appropriate.
  * Contributing to the continued growth and success of the wider consultancy.

About You:

• Relevant degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  * Previous experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or similar environment.
  * Town Planner level: ideally 1-3+ years' experience.
  * Senior Town Planner level: ideally 3+ years' experience.
  * Good understanding of the UK planning system and relevant planning policy.
  * Experience working on planning applications and development projects.
  * Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  * Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
  * Commercially aware with a proactive approach to client relationships.
  * Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider team.
  * RTPI Chartered or working towards MRTPI would be advantageous for Senior-level candidates.
