Track Design Engineer

Location: Wimbledon, London or Basingstoke - 3 days per week in the office, with nationwide project coverage as required.
Rate: £440 per day (Umbrella, non-negotiable)
Contract length: 6 months

We are seeking an experienced Track Design Engineer to develop and manage rail infrastructure engineering proposals from initial feasibility through to detailed design. The role involves delivering safe, cost-effective and compliant engineering solutions while ensuring projects meet programme, budget, quality and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
·Develop and evaluate track engineering proposals and design options.
·Ensure designs comply with relevant railway standards and safety requirements.
·Manage engineering risks, scope changes, technical interfaces and design reviews.
·Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors and consultants.
·Support feasibility studies, site surveys and detailed design handovers.
·Ensure compliance with CDM requirements and environmental considerations.

Essential Requirements
·Engineering degree or equivalent recognised qualification.
·Relevant railway engineering experience and strong track design knowledge.
·Strong technical evaluation and decision-making skills.
·CDM, risk assessment and external audit competency.
·Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification.
·Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
