About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Trade Compliance Coordinator to join a busy Key Accounts team based in Colnbrook.
The successful candidate will support Key Account Trade Compliance functions by ensuring customs compliance, producing KPI and product reporting, and assisting with the efficient movement of goods across international borders. This role requires a strong understanding of UK and EU customs regulations, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with management and operational teams to ensure the smooth movement of goods across international borders.
- Determine the correct tariff classifications for supported products moving from the EU.
- Provide country-specific guidance for UK import requirements relating to stock products, primarily from the EU.
- Maintain close communication with management and provide ongoing support to the Head of Trade Compliance.
- Support internal projects requiring Trade Compliance knowledge and expertise.
- Audit and monitor customs entries to ensure compliance with UK import and export legislation and client KPI requirements.
- Ensure all operational activities are completed and followed up in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
- Facilitate the import and export of non-stock goods, preparing and submitting the necessary customs documentation and declarations.
- Liaise with HMRC and assist with the maintenance of customs procedures.
- Maintain the CITES portal, including uploading Import and Re-Export CITES certificates.
- Identify and implement workflow improvements in collaboration with management.
- Report potential new business opportunities to management for referral to the sales team.
- Create, review and maintain written procedures and process documentation.
- Produce KPI reports within agreed deadlines for submission to the relevant Key Account functions.
- Carry out ad-hoc audits and spot checks on customs entries, producing weekly reports for management.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within Customs or Trade Compliance, ideally within a large organisation or customs brokerage.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU customs regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive approach with the ability to identify improvements and drive efficiencies.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining compliance standards.
