BRC are working closely with a leading organisation to recruit an experienced Home Safety Officer Team Leader to oversee a team of Home Safety Officers and support the delivery of Small Projects and Hospital to Home services.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong team leadership, health and safety, property maintenance and operational experience, who can ensure high standards of workmanship, customer care and compliance across a range of services supporting older people in the community.
Duties
- Line manage and support Home Safety Officers, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and good practice.
- Carry out regular site spot checks to monitor customer care, health and safety and quality of workmanship.
- Undertake quarterly technical audits of selected schemes and external contractor works.
- Coordinate van checks, equipment and PPE requirements.
- Manage annual leave and flexi-time requests while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Monitor stock levels across the yard and vans and coordinate ordering with Finance and management.
- Produce regular stock reports and ensure materials, receipts, delivery notes and invoices are accurately managed.
- Lead regular toolbox talks and maintain appropriate attendance records.
- Check PPE and equipment is suitable and in good working order.
- Assess and review risks and Risk Assessments to help ensure the safety of staff and members of the public.
- Liaise with external organisations and partner agencies.
- Ensure contractual requirements and service standards are met.
- Contribute to schedules of rates and the cost-effective purchasing of materials and equipment.
- Assess and cost schemes where required.
- Assist with the investigation of client and organisational complaints.
- Carry out regular tools audits and support the maintenance and replacement of tools and equipment.
- Assist Home Safety Officers on complex works or where additional support is required.
Requirements
- Experience of supervising or managing staff within a property, maintenance, construction or similar operational environment.
- Strong understanding of health and safety, risk assessment and compliance.
- Experience carrying out inspections, audits or quality checks.
- Good organisational skills, particularly around stock, equipment and resource management.
- Ability to monitor standards of workmanship and customer service.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, contractors and external partner organisations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and ensure services are delivered efficiently and within contractual requirements.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to provide support on complex works when required.
