The Role As a National Traffic Planner, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management and optimisation of a national general haulage fleet. Working within a fast-paced transport environment, you will be responsible for ensuring customer requirements are met efficiently while maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and optimising the daily operation of a national general haulage fleet.
- Allocating work effectively across company vehicles and a trusted subcontractor network.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, ensuring service expectations are consistently achieved.
- Liaising with drivers on a daily basis, providing instructions and resolving operational issues.
- Monitoring vehicle movements and responding promptly to any transport challenges.
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider business to ensure smooth operational delivery.
- Maintaining accurate transport records and ensuring compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
- Coordinating vehicle presentations for inspections and MOTs through approved service providers.
- Previous experience within transport planning, logistics, haulage or a traffic office environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent organisational abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Good problem-solving skills and confidence in decision-making.
- The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using transport management systems, although this is advantageous rather than essential.
- A positive, enthusiastic approach and a desire to develop within a growing business.
- Competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000.
