Traffic Regulation Officer

This role plays a key part in the effective management of the highway network, supporting the preparation and implementation of Traffic Regulation Orders and the coordination of highway works.
You will be responsible for drafting and preparing TROs, while also supporting the permit team and working closely with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure traffic regulation and highway works are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities
· Draft and prepare Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) in accordance with relevant highways legislation and procedures.
· Prepare, review and process traffic management and regulatory documentation.
· Support the permit team with the coordination and management of highway works.
· Review traffic-related information and ensure records are accurate and up to date.
· Liaise with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders regarding traffic regulation and permit matters.
· Provide support with traffic management and highway-related processes as required.
· Contribute to the safe and efficient management of the highway network.
· Ensure documentation and processes comply with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

Candidate Profile
Essential:
· Previous experience within Traffic Regulation, Highways or Traffic Management.
· Good understanding of Traffic Regulation Orders and their preparation.
· Knowledge of permit schemes and the coordination of highway works.
· Strong attention to detail when producing technical and regulatory documentation.
· Good organisational and administrative skills.
· Clear written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.

Desirable:
· Local Authority or highways organisation experience.
· Experience working within a permit team or highway works coordination environment.
· Knowledge of relevant traffic and highways legislation.
· Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
