The Role

Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for a Trainee CNC Setter/Operator to join a long-established engineering business specialising in the manufacture of high-quality precision components and machinery. Working within a small, skilled team at a newer manufacturing site, the Trainee CNC Setter/Operator will receive training to develop CNC machining skills, including machine setting, operating, quality inspection and working from engineering drawings.

  • Learning to set and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts
  • Supporting machining work in line with production specifications
  • Learning to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Developing an understanding of tooling, fixtures and machining processes
  • Carrying out in-progress checks to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Inspecting completed components to ensure they meet specification
  • Supporting routine machine checks and basic maintenance
  • Assisting with troubleshooting machining issues
  • Working closely with experienced CNC machinists to develop technical skills
  • Supporting good housekeeping, quality standards and continuous improvement across the workshop

Requirements

The successful Trainee CNC Setter/Operator will have a genuine interest in CNC machining, engineering or precision manufacturing. Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, machine operating, mechanical assembly or production environment would be desirable, although full training will be provided. Experience reading engineering drawings, using measuring equipment or working with machinery would be highly desirable. You will be practical, accurate, reliable and keen to develop into a skilled CNC role within a supportive engineering environment. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Machine Operator, Production Operative or Engineering Operative.
