Working on the tools and ready for your next step? This is an opportunity to use your site experience in a Trainee Contracts Manager / Assistant Contracts Manager role, with full training, ongoing support and a clear route into contracts management. You will join a well-established roofing contractor in Corby that has been trading for more than 45 years, delivers commercial and industrial projects across the UK, and already has a full order book just two months into its financial year. You do not need previous management experience, but you must understand how construction sites operate and be keen to learn.
The Role – Trainee Contracts Manager / Assistant Contracts Manager
This role is split roughly 50% between the Corby office and project sites, giving you practical experience of both project coordination and site delivery. Working alongside experienced Contracts Managers, you will learn how roofing and refurbishment projects are planned, programmed and managed from start to finish. Projects range from £50,000 to £3 million across education, healthcare, commercial, industrial and public sector settings. National travel to project sites is required.
What You Will Be Doing
- Support Contracts Managers with the day-to-day running of roofing and refurbishment projects
- Help plan labour, materials, deliveries and subcontractors
- Attend sites to monitor progress, quality and health and safety
- Liaise with site teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Assist with programmes, project updates, site records and progress reports
- Help resolve practical site issues and keep works moving to programme
- Keep project information, drawings, schedules and commercial records up to date

Who This Suits
- Construction experience is essential, but it can come from a trade, labouring, site supervision, subcontracting or another practical site-based role.
- May suit someone working on the tools who is ready to move into a management role with long-term progression
- Minimum GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in Maths and English
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
- Organised, reliable and confident communicating with different people
- Comfortable travelling nationally and splitting time between the office and project sites
- A construction qualification or trade background would be welcomed but is not essential
Hours & Location
- Based in Corby, with national travel to project sites
- Approximately 50% office-based and 50% site-based
- Monday to Thursday, 8.30am–5.00pm
- Friday, 8.30am–4.00pm
- One-hour lunch break
