About the role…

As a trainee, you will receive on the job training and technical instruction to develop the skills necessary to become a fully qualified Electrcial Fitter. You will provide support to experienced workers while learning and adhering to industry safety standards and best practices.

 

As a Trainee Electrical Fitter you will…

  • Assist in the installation and wiring of electrical components, such as switches, sockets, light fittings, and distribution boards of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
  • Maintenance and servicing of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Assist with the installation, refurbishment & Maintenance of 11,33 and 132kv plant and equipment
  • Follow strict health and safety guidelines and regulations at all times.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with the UK's Electrical Safety Standards and the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Learn how to identify and mitigate potential hazards, including electrical shocks, fire risks, and working at heights.
  • Undertake formal education and training, typically through a combination of on-the-job learning and classroom-based instruction.
  • Develop an understanding of electrical theory, legislation, and the practical application of electrical systems.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to install and repair electrical systems (e.g., drills, cable strippers, screwdrivers).
  • Learn how to safely use electrical testing equipment to check the integrity and safety of circuits and systems.
  • Keep accurate records of tasks completed, materials used, and time spent on jobs.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient and safe working practices.

 

About you…

  • 5 GCSEs Grade 4-9 (A*-C) or equivalent
  • Experience in working in a team (Desirable but not essential)
  • Basic understanding of how electrical systems work, including circuits, voltage, current, resistance and power (Desirable)
  • Driven.  
  • Ambitious.   
  • Safety conscious.  
  • Ability to learn new skills.   
  • Ensure work is to a high standard when working on client sites.  
  • Work well as part of a team.  
  • Full UK Driving Licence
