Looking to start a career in engineering?
We're looking for a practical, hands-on individual who wants to develop a long-term career within the aerospace engineering industry.
This is a trainee-level opportunity, so you don't need to already be an experienced Electroplater. It could be a great next step if you have some experience working with hand tools, mechanical components or within a workshop/engineering environment and are keen to learn a skilled engineering trade.
You may currently be working as a Mechanic, Workshop Operative, Engineering Assistant, Production Operative, Technician or similar hands-on role and be looking for an opportunity with structured training and progression.
Working within a specialist aerospace engineering environment, you'll receive full training in electroplating and surface treatment processes used on aircraft components.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting experienced Electroplaters with day-to-day engineering and plating activities
- Learning how to prepare, clean, mask and treat aerospace components
- Supporting electroplating processes including cleaning, plating and rinsing
- Learning specialist processes including grit blasting, component stripping and surface preparation
- Handling components using appropriate slings, jigs and manual handling techniques
- Learning to safely operate specialist equipment, including overhead cranes
- Following engineering drawings, process instructions and overhaul manuals
- Working to strict health, safety, environmental and quality procedures
- Building your practical experience and technical knowledge through structured on-the-job training
What we're looking for
We're particularly interested in people who are practical, mechanically minded and keen to build a career in engineering.
You could be a good fit if you have:
- Some previous exposure to an engineering, mechanical, workshop or production environment
- Confidence using hand tools or working practically with mechanical components
- A genuine willingness to learn a skilled engineering trade
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow processes and instructions
- A strong approach to health and safety
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- GCSE-level education or equivalent
Previous aerospace or aviation experience would be advantageous but not essential.
What's on offer
- £25,000 - £28,000 basic salary
- £4,500 annual shift allowance
- Total package of up to £32,500
- 4 on, 4 off shift pattern
- Full technical and mandatory training provided
- Opportunity to develop specialist engineering skills within the aerospace sector
- Overtime opportunities following completion of probation
- Excellent opportunity for someone looking to establish and progress their career within engineering
This is an ideal opportunity if you're currently in a practical or mechanical role but feel you've reached a ceiling and want the chance to learn, develop and progress within a specialist aerospace engineering environment.
