Our Client is looking to recruit a motivated Trainee Health & Safety Inspector to join our growing construction team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career in construction Health & Safety, working alongside our experienced management team across a varied portfolio of commercial refurbishment and construction projects.
The successful candidate will be supported in developing their practical Health & Safety knowledge and gaining further professional qualifications, including NEBOSH, where required.
The Role
Working across our live construction sites, you will assist with maintaining and improving Health & Safety standards throughout the business. Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out regular Health & Safety site inspections and producing inspection reports.
Assisting Site and Contracts Managers with Health & Safety compliance.
Reviewing RAMS and ensuring suitable controls are implemented on site.
Monitoring site standards including PPE, working at height, access and egress, housekeeping, plant, temporary works and fire safety.
Assisting with site inductions and toolbox talks.
Identifying unsafe practices and working with site teams to implement corrective actions.
Assisting with accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
Monitoring subcontractor Health & Safety performance.
Maintaining Health & Safety records and documentation.
Supporting compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, CDM Regulations 2015 and other relevant construction legislation.
Working with our management team to continually improve our Health & Safety culture and procedures.
About You
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and confident communicating with people at all levels.
Previous construction experience would be beneficial, particularly experience gained as a site operative, supervisor, trainee manager or within a construction-related role.
You should have:
A genuine interest in developing a career in construction Health & Safety.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
A practical and sensible approach to Health & Safety.
Good attention to detail.
Confidence working with site managers, operatives and subcontractors.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
A full UK driving licence.
Willingness to travel between construction sites across London and the South East.
A NEBOSH Construction Certificate would be advantageous but is not essential, as training and development can be provided for the right candidate.
