My client is a prominent and forward-thinking energy infrastructure provider in the United Kingdom, specialising in the design, delivery and long-term operation of large-scale decentralised low-carbon utility networks.

The Role

This is a full-time mobile role for a Trainee Mobile HIU Technician covering the London area. Working alongside an experienced team, you will develop the confidence and practical knowledge needed to support planned and reactive maintenance of Heat Interface Units (HIUs).

The team is led by an HIU Team Manager who will coordinate your work and support you in achieving agreed goals and objectives. As your skills develop, you will build a stronger understanding of heat networks and the important role they play in achieving the Government's net-zero goals.

Key Responsibilities

•  Carry out HIU and CIU inspections and reactive maintenance for loss of heat or cooling within the required timeframes of Residential Supply Agreements.

•  Complete repairs identified during servicing, including the removal and replacement of pumps, valves and actuators, as well as bleeding systems.

•  Update work orders promptly and in accordance with company training through the asset management system.

•  Liaise with the service desk to ensure jobs placed on hold are rebooked and closed out as soon as possible.

•  Manage your own van stock and contact management when critical parts are required.

•  Work safely and in accordance with the company's Health and Safety policy.

•  Proactively help and support colleagues to achieve team objectives.

•  Complete heat-meter works, including replacing batteries or meters and investigating meter error codes with the internal Metering Team.

•  Follow the company escalation process when further action is needed to reinstate heat or cooling to a residential property outside the remit of the role, such as low plant-room temperatures.

•  Deliver a first-class service to customers.

•  Prioritise tasks effectively and perform well under pressure.

Training and Development

•  Work alongside experienced Mobile HIU Technicians who will provide practical guidance and help you build confidence.

•  Receive company training on processes, safe working practices and the asset management system.

•  Agree development goals and objectives with the HIU Team Manager to help increase your skills and support progression within the company.

•  Develop your knowledge of HIUs, heat networks and emerging technologies across the energy market.

Working Arrangements

•  40 hours per week, working from 8.30am to 5.00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

•  Five days out of seven, with the working pattern determined by the local shift rota.

•  Overtime and on-call rotas apply to this role.

Salary and Benefits

•  Salary of £28,000 - £30,000 per annum.

•  Business use vehicle.

•  Grade 5.

•  Pension with a 5% employer contribution.

•  Life assurance at three times annual salary.

•  25 days' annual leave.

Role Requirements

•  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•  Good verbal and written communication skills.

•  Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Heat Interface Units is advantageous but not required.

•  A genuine interest in learning about emerging technologies within the energy market and supporting the drive to net zero.

•  Full UK driving licence.

•  A positive attitude to work, with the willingness to complete tasks on time while managing conflicting deadlines.
