Trainee Litigation Consultant

As Trainee Litigation Consultant you will support clients when they receive Workplace Relations Commission complaints and Labour Court appeal papers. You will take ownership of each case and be responsible for drafting responses, visiting clients and preparing cases for hearing when required.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who has starting their FE1 exams and looking to gain invaluable knowledge and experience within a global consultancy. This is not a major requirement

Key Responsibilities

  • Review employment law claims and drafting appropriate initial responses as required
  • Support clients with mediation / conciliation matters in the Workplace Relations Commission and the Labour Court
  • Notify the client of conduct of the case, provide advice and take instructions from clients
  • Visit clients as required to include offsite at their premises/offices throughout Ireland
  • Obtain all relevant and necessary documentation and draft appropriate responses on behalf of clients for their approval for submission
  • Support with the preparation of booklets or documents in the appropriate or agreed format in preparation for hearing
  • Identify witnesses and liaise with witnesses, where required
  • Correspond with the Workplace Relations Commission and the Labour Court, claimants' representatives, and clients etc
  • Achieve commercially favourable settlements for the client, as appropriate
  • Attending and conducting WRC hearings, where appropriate
  • Conducting case reviews
  • Prepare and complete all administrative tasks associated with client cases
  • Support the Litigation Liaison Officer, providing cover during periods of leave, taking ownership of onboarding clients to the department, liaising with relevant stakeholders, collating relevant reports and managing the Tribunal Navigator engagement & reporting
  • Assist with and attend training sessions, where required
  • Demonstrate commercial knowledge of the Company's range of services and products and to be able to discuss these with clients as appropriate
  • To proactively assist in the retention of existing clients and to promote new business by obtaining referrals for new clients
  • Responsible for ensuring that the requisite knowledge of employment law and technical skills is of the standard required to be able to carry out the work and to the standards as outlined in this job description
  • Attend any company of the Group offices throughout United Kingdom and Ireland as required by management

What you bring to the team

  • Knowledge of the WRC / Labour Court process is desirable
  • Experience of reviewing and processing claims
  • Third Level Qualification in Law / Employment Law / Human Resources / Industrial Relations
  • A real commitment to helping our clients through a difficult time
