About the role

Our client, Ringway, a trusted provider of highways services to the public sector, is seeking a Trainee Measurement Engineer.


As a Trainee Measurement Engineer, you will support the delivery and control of works through accurate measurement, records and coordination. This is a development role designed to build technical, commercial and site understanding while working closely with experienced colleagues. The role is office based four days a week, with one day spent on site to build practical insight and relationships.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with measuring works and recording quantities accurately
  • Support the preparation and review of works packs and documentation
  • Maintain clear records using internal systems and spreadsheets
  • Liaise with site teams to understand progress and variations
  • Help ensure works meet safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Contribute to cost tracking and basic commercial reporting
  • Attend site regularly to verify measurements and conditions
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors and managers

Essential skills and requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Willingness to learn technical and commercial concepts
  • Clear written communication for records and reports
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • Interest in construction, highways or infrastructure environments
  • Ability to organise tasks and meet agreed priorities
  • Driving licence desirable but not essential
